A huge winter storms blankets New England.

Following the December 1866 snows, another massive winter storm struck New England and again threw much of the region into chaos.  A reported twenty inches of snow fell in New Haven, Connecticut, more than two feet in Boston, Massachusett, and three foot drifts brought significant disruption to New York City.  City tramways, as well as railway lines across several states struggled with the snowfall for days.  (By John Osborne)
