William Stoker marries in Texas

William E. Stoker married Elizabeth E. in Texas sometime before the birth of their first daughter, Priscilla, on November 26, 1860. The couple lived on a farm near Coffeeville in Upshur County, Texas and they owned at least two slaves. Stoker’s mother, Rebecca Stoker, lived in the vicinity as well as other members of his extended family. Stoker later explained in a letter that he had “the small pox” in “the spring before [they] married.” (By Don Sailer)
