Weeks of dangerously high temperatures prevail in central California

Unusual and dangerously high temperatures were experienced through much of central California during these weeks, from the coastal towns to the interior valleys. San Francisco suffered several deaths from sunstroke, Upper Placerville reported the mercury at 115 degrees in the shade, and, at the Wells Fargo Express office in Oroville, employees recorded 114 degrees at their counters.
