CAMPBELL COUNTY, situated in the southern part of Virginia, between James and Roanoke rivers. Area, 576 square miles. Face of the country hilly; soil varied. Seat of justice, Campbell courthouse. Pop. in 1820, 16,570; in 1830, 15,704 ; in 1840,21,030; in 1850, 23.245.  (Fanning's, 1853)
