New York Herald, “The Hon. Joshua R. Giddings vs. the Administration and the Slave Power,” June 27, 1858

This article from the Democratic, pro-South, New York Herald describes debate in Congress over Kansas’ admission as a state, particularly through criticism of the position of Senator Joshua R. Giddings. The Herald holds that Giddings’ criticism of the Buchanan administration and of ‘slave power’ is nonsense.
