The 41st Congress of the United States comes to the end of its term in Washington, DC

In the House, James Gillespie Blaine of Maine brings the term of the Forty-first Congress to an end. The Congress has sat during its two years for a total of 349 days. The new Forty-second Congress will assemble in Washington on March 4, 1871. (By John Osborne)
