Cincinnati city solicitor Rutherford B. Hayes and his wife set out on a tour of the East

Thirty-eight year old Cincinatti city solicitor Rutherford B. Hayes and his wife Lucy Webb Hayes left Ohio on a four week trip "to see the cities and scenery of the East," including Montreal and Quebec, leaving their children with his in-laws. They returned home on September 1, 1860.  (By John Osborne)
