Dorsey, Thomas

Thomas Dorsey was born in Hagerstown, Maryland around 1831. He worked as a barber prior to the Civil War and enlisted in Company G of the 6th United States Colored Troops on August 29, 1863 as a thirty-two year old private in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Dorsey was listed at five feet and nine inches tall with black hair, eyes, and complexion. Dorsey was present at the Grand Review in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in November 1865. He died on March 12, 1904 at sixty-nine years old. Dorsey was laid to rest in the Old Negro Cemetery in Middleton, Pennsylvania. (By Brenna McKelvey)
