Elisha McGuire was born in Allegheny, Pennsylvania around 1827 and served in the 3rd United States Colored Troops. According to his service records, McGuire worked as a laborer before the Civil War. In July 1863 he joined Company K of the 3rd USCT in Philadelphia as a substitute for Josiah Stevenson. Officers promoted McGuire to corporal on September 3, 1864. His military service ended on October 31, 1865 while stationed at Jacksonville, Florida. (By Don Sailer)
