John Henry Grabill, detail

John H. Grabill was born in Mount Jackson, Virginia on March 8, 1839 and enlisted in Company G of the Thirty-Third Virginia Volunteer Infantry following graduation. In 1862, he raised Company E of the Thirty-Fifth Virginia Cavalry. Grabill became superintendent of schools in Shenandoah County and published his own Diary of a Soldier of the Stonewall Brigade. Grabill married Mary L. Hollingsworth in 1866 and died on February 28, 1922 in Woodstock, Virginia. (By John Osborne and Leigh Oczkowski)
