In northern Georgia, retreating Confederates mount a bold and successful defense of the Ringgold Gap

Retreating from Missionary Ridge, Confederate forces set up a defense under Confederate General Patrick Cleburne at the Ringgold Gap in northern Georgia. Union forces under Joseph Hooker attempted to storm the gap but were driven back with heavy losses. The victory allowed the safe retreat of the Confederate Army of Tennessee.  (By John Osborne)
