    St. Louis, Thursday, July 2,

JAMES LYLE, County Recorder and Probate Clerk of Leavenworth, was killed by a Free-State man named HALLER, on the 29th ult. The affray grew out of the election to fill vacancies in the City Council of Leavenworth, Kansas. HALLER was arrested, and there were great apprehensions of a riot taking place in consequence.
