Front parlor in the house of Mr. and Mrs. F.B. Bryant, friends of Stephen Douglas. Here Douglas wrote the letter of proposal for the Lincoln-Douglas Debates and also met with Lincoln on the evening of July 29, 1858 to agree on the details of the plan of debates. The furniture in this photograph were the furnishings at the time of the conference.
