LENOIR COUNTY, situated toward the southeast of North Carolina, and traversed by Neuse river. Area, 390 square miles. Face of the country level; soil moderately productive. Seat of justice, Kingston. Pop. in 1810, 5,572; in 1820, 6,800; in 1830, 7,723; in 1840, 7,605; in 1850, 7,828. (Fanning's, 1853)
