    May 1. A pretty May - day. Received this day to my Joy letters from Pa, Dr. McC; Uncle E sends one piece on "Socialism" - with a short note of his! Wrote long letters today to Nat Supter 4pp: Mill 8 pp. - Ridgaway, Dick S., Virgil P., Prof. U - 4 pp. each. Received 1st No. N.Y. Tribune (weekly) - Paper interesting.
