McINTOSH COUNTY, situated on the southeast boundary of Georgia, with the Atlantic on the southeast, and Altamaha river on the southwest. Area, 600 square miles. Face of the country level; soil sandy. Seat of justice, Darien. Pop. in 1810, 3,730; in 1820, 5,129; in 1830, 4,998; in 1840, 5,360; in 1850, 6,028. (Fanning's, 1853)
