    DISMISSAL AND APPOINTMENT-GOV. WALKER-NOMINATION BY THE PRESIDENT

    Washington, Dec. 10- The present District Attorney of New Orleans has been dismissed, for want of proper diligences in prosecuting the departure of fillibusters from that port and Thomas J. Bommes has been appointed in his place.

    The dismissal of Hon. Robert J. Walker from the Governorship of Kansas is daily expected. It is stated on high authority that should he move in the direction of Kansas, his recall will immediately follow.

    Hon. Nathan Clifford of Maine, has been nominated to the Senate for the vacancy on the the Supreme Court bench.
