Steamship from Norfolk to Baltimore burns with one passenger and a crewman lost

The New York Times reported that "the steamer North Carolina, Captain Cannon, on her way from Norfolk to Baltimore on Friday night, took fire and burned to the water's edge." A passenger and a steward died in the incident. (By John Osborne)
