Adams County, OH

ADAMS COUNTY in the south part of Ohio, situated along the Ohio river. It is about 25 miles square, with an area of 550 square miles. The face of the country is very hilly, sloping toward the Ohio; and the soil varying from the poorest to the best, but generally inclining to the former. Courts are held at Adamsville, and West Union. Pop., in 1830, 12,278; 1840, 13,183; in 1850, 18,883. (Fanning's, 1853)
