The Game of Base Ball.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE HERALD.

NEW YORK, July 20, 1859.

In this morning’s issue you devote a portion of your valuable paper to an editorial on the subject of the manly and healthful amusements, enumerating among them that of base ball. You are correct in stating that it is one of the most strengthening games introduced into this country; still, however, it has not yet been nationalized, but is centralized in and about New York. There is a National Convention, wherein New York is represented by twenty-nine, and New Jersey by nine clubs, and these are the only two States in the Union who have sent delegates to the Convention.

Every club in the United States should embrace the opportunity of joining the so called National Convention, at its next yearly meeting in March, 1860.
