Much anticipated tour of English cricket's finest players begins in Montreal

The touring team made up of the best cricketers in England began their tour of North America in Montreal where they took on the Canadian select team before a large and enthusiasic international crowd.  The English played with eleven players and the Canadians with twenty-two but the result was never in doubt as the visitors handily defeated their hosts.  The tour later moved on to New York, where a similar result was played out against the best of the cricketers of the United States.  (By John Osborne)
