In Italy, a mob murders the hated former military chief of the deposed Duchy of Palma

An enraged crowd at Palma in Italy murdered Colonel Luigi Anviti, a former head of the military commission of the Duchy of Palma, who had attempted to escape the city in disguise.  Anviti was considered to be the hated head of enforcement for the regime in the duchy that had come to an end with the defeat of the Austrians earlier in the year.  (By John Osborne)
