ASCENSION PARISH, La., situated toward the southeast part of the state, and traversed by Mississippi river. Area -------- . The surface is level, and annually overflowed; the soil fertile and well-suited for cotton and sugar-cane. Courts are held at Donaldsonville. Pop., in 1840, 6,951; in 1850, 10,752.
