LINCOLN COUNTY, situated on the south boundary of North Carolina, with Catawba river on the east. Area, 1,200 quarter mile. Face of the country hilly; soil productive, especially on the streams. Seat of justice, Lincolnton. Pop. in 1810, 16,359; in 1820, 18,147; in 1830, 22,625; in 1840, 25,160; in 1850, 7,746.
