Hill, Andrew

Andrew Hill was born in Frederick, Maryland in 1841 and went on to become a private in Company B of the 6th United States Colored Troops Volunteer Infantry. He enlisted in Lancaster, Pennsylvania at age twenty-two years old for a three year term as a substitute on July 28, 1863. He was about five feet and nine inches tall at the time he entered the army and was promoted to corporal on August 24, 1863. Hill died in 1902 and is buried in Midland Cemetery in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. (By Brenna McKelvey)
