    The Rebel Raid on Chambersburg.

The rebel raid on Chambersburg, Pa., is certainly a very daring affair. Chambersburg is some twenty or twenty-five miles from the Maryland line, and if the telegraph is correct in representing that the body of rebels that took it numbered only 100 cavalry and six pieces of cannon, it is the most daring adventure of the war. Probably the telegraph designed to say 1,000. No doubt they will disappear again as speedily as they appeared, after perpetrating what mischief may be easily accomplished. No permanent damage will result from it, but permanent good may, as no doubt it will stimulate the Pennsylvania authorities to a sharp look out on the border, by which danger from that quarter may be guarded against in the future.
