    ALARMS. The Montgomery (Ala.) Mail warns its readers, in very excited language, against a servile plot which is to be executed Christmas week. It says it has all the facts in its possession, but refrains from giving them publicity. Its advice is:

    Be on the alert – remember that fire, poison and the knife are supplied to bad negroes by our pious brethren of the north – let no stray vagrants remain about your premises – jail every “suspicious” character, hanging such as are found in communication with slaves.
