Democrat defeats incumbent Republican in election for mayor of Springfield, Massachusetts

Manufacturer and long-time Democratic activist Stephen C. Bemis was elected as mayor of Springfield, Massachusetts after an exciting election campaign.  He defeated the incumbent Republican, Daniel L. Harris on an increased electorate from the recent presidential election.  (By John Osborne)
