All hands hard at work on the Dam above the Looking Glass line. It is nearly completed & the River is rising so steadily & bearing upon it that we fear it must go. Walked there with Frank & Sharper. Found Mr E hard at work. Met Sue and Mr John Whitaker there. Hurried home to have a supper cooked for the hands. Had a bushel of Beans made into soup & five or six quarts of Coffee parched & a large wash pot of Coffee made, besides bacon, Potatoes etc, & bread of course.
