JEFFERSON COUNTY, situated toward the northeasterly part of Tennessee, with Holston river on the northwest, and traversed by the Nolichucky river. Area, 356 square miles. Soil generally fertile. Seat of justice, Danbridge. Pop. in 1820, 8,953; in 1830, 11,801; in 1840, 12,076; in 1850, 13,204.
