CONFEDERATE TREASURY NOTES. – These notes are rapidly coming into circulation, and ere long will be current everywhere throughout the Confederate States. They are, we believe, generally received by our merchants, storekeepers and traders, at par, as they of right should be, but we learn that some brokers will not take them except at a heavy discount. Why they pursue this course, except from an unworthy itching to make profit, regardless of the injury they inflict upon the public credit, we cannot imagine.
No good citizen will do anything to discredit the authorized paper issues of a Government sustained by an unanimous people and engaged in a struggle for independence, which it is the duty of every patriot to give aid to by every means in his power. Let us hear no more of these attempts to shave.
