SPARTANBURGH DISTRICT, situated on the north boundary of South Carolina, with Broad river on the northeast. Area, 1,050 square miles. Face of the country, hilly; soil, fertile. Seat of justice, Spartanburgh. Pop. in 1810, 14,259; in 1820, 16,989; in 1830, 21,150; in 1840, 23,669; in 1850, 26,400.
