    The Presbyterian Church and Slavery-A Fierce Letter from Dr. Ross

    Cleveland, Friday, June 5, 1857.

    Rev. A.H.H. Boyd, D.D. : I had a call, yesterday, from Rev. Dr-, of this city. He disclosed to me a fact which helps to lift the veil from our future. He told me that of the Old School, North, have written to him, that they are prepared to join the New School General Assembly, so soon as that body is relieved from Slavery! The development, then, of coming events, is clearly to be this:
    1. The New School, South, have now clearly defined the true Southern position; and therefore, sooner or later, all the real South will occupy that ground-the Old School as certainly as the New School.
    2. That fact being fully revealed, the ultra Old School, North, will secede
