Austria threatens to join the Crimean War on the side of Great Britain, France, Sardinia-Piedmont, and the Ottoman Empire unless Russia agrees to the peace proposals of the Vienna Conference, in session throughout the war. This helps bring Russia to the peace table. (By Brian Bockelman)
