The Episcopal Church moves to establish itself in the Hawaiian Islands

The first moves were made to establish the Episcopal Church in the Hawaiian Islands on this date.  This resulted in the consecration of the first bishop in 1861 and in the eventual construction of St. Andrew's Cathedral in Honolulu which opened for services during the Christmas season in 1886.   (By John Osborne)
