    My Dear Sir.
I am hard at work at the biography, and now need the remaining notes, which I trust Mr Nicolay will be able to send me without much delay.

Since I returned from Springfield it has been thought best, provided satisfactory arrangements can be made, to bring the work out in New York. Parties have been written to on the subject, and Medill will go down to New York and complete arrangements should the answer seem to render it advisable. In that event I will complete the Ms. here, and take Springfield in my route to N. Y.

    Very Truly Yours
    J. L. Scripps
