ORANGEBURGH DISTRICT, situated in the central part of South Carolina, with Congaree and Santee rivers on the northeast, and the South Edisto on the southwest. Area, 1,824 square miles. Face of the country, level; soil, sterile. Seat of justice, Orangeburgh c. h. Pop. 1810, 13,229; in 1820, 15,653; in 1830, 18,455; in 1840, 18,519; in 1850, 23,582.
