COLUMBIA COUNTY, situated in the central part of Pennsylvania, and traversed by the east branch of Susquehanna river. Area, 700 square miles. Face of the country mountainous and hilly, with much excellent soil. Seat of justice, Danville. Pop. in 1830, 20,049; In 1840, 24,267; in 1850, 17,710. (Fanning's, 1853)
