WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH, situated in the central part of Louisiana, with Mississippi river on the east and the Red on the west. Area, 700 square miles. Face of the country, level; soil fertile, but mostly subject to inundation. Seat of justice, West Baton Rouge. Pop. in 1820, 2,335; in 1830, 3,084; in 1840, 4,638; in 1850, 6,270. (Fanning's, 1853)
