Kansas Democrats choose Stephen Douglas as their candidate for President

The Democratic Party of the Kansas Territory met in a stormy session at Atchison.  It selected delegates for the upcoming national convention in Charleston, South Carolina, reaffirmed the Cincinnati Platform, and directed delegates to vote for Stephen Douglas for president in the nominating process.
