In California, Breckinridge Democrats hold their state convention in Sacramento and choose electors
The week after the Douglas Democratic state convention, the Breckinridge state convention met in Sacramento. With both U.S. Senators from California looking on, the convention approved the Breckinridge platform as "true principles of the true national democracy," praised the Buchanan Administration, and chose four state electors.
