At Portland, Maine, the Prince of Wales departs North America at the end of his tour

After their last visit to a major U.S. city, the Prince of Wales and his party left Boston by train for Portland, Maine where vessels of the Royal Navy were waiting to transport him home.  He reached the city around on o'clock and was met with massive crowds of both Americans and Canadians who had come to see him off as he went in procession to the Victoria Pier.  His flotilla sailed at around four and his lengthy, full, and successful visit to North America ended.    (By John Osborne)
