INDIANA COUNTY, situated toward the westerly part of Pennsylvania, with Kiskiminitas river on the southwest. Area, 770 square miles. Face of the country hilly; soil, mostly sterile. Seat of justice, Indiana. Pop in 1810, 6,214; in 1820, 8,882; in 1830, 14,251; in 1840, 20,782; in 1850, 27,070. (Fanning's, 1853)
