VERY SUSPICIOUS. – We have already hinted at the possibility of Gov. WISE being at the bottom of the recent insurrection in Princess Anne and Norfolk Counties, Va. Some people, we know, are inclined to regard the statements which have been circulated regarding this emeute as gross exaggerations, while others persist in believing that they were started solely to alarm the conservatives in Pennsylvania, and to keep them from voting for CURTIN.

As if to refute these suppositions, by pointing more clearly at the author of the disturbances, the story now comes to us that Governor WISE has undertaken the defence of two negroes who were arrested a short time since on the eastern shore of Virginia, charged with aiding in forwarding a slave to Canada. Think of that! The man who insisted on hanging JOHN BROWN, in less than a year after his execution giving aid and comfort to some of his feeble imitators. Is not the martyr avenged? But what will the Virginians do with their apostate Ex-Governor? Can they allow him to reside quietly in their midst, after this new and overwhelming evidence that he has gone over to the enemy? If the near prospect of Mr. LINCOLN’S election can have such startling effect on the obdurate heart of the Ex-Governor of Virginia, who can there be that will not go and do like-WISE?
