You need no wordy congratulations now-- The vote is far more emphatic and earnest--
I write to say that I think John C. Fremont at the head of the War Department in the government, would be found equal to any emergency.
I am for Fremont for Secty of War first and foremost.
In a time of profound peace I do not believe he would accept, but as the times are, I believe he would glory in it--
