    The Chicago Convention.

The Convention to nominate a President for the Free States has completed its labors. – The aspiring and tortuous SEWARD, after sounding the tocsin of an “irrepressible conflict,” and involving the whole country in [civil?] convulsions for the purpose of securing the Presidency, has again been disappointed of the nomination. We should like to see a portrait of his face in the next Harper, representing him after the decisive news from Chicago; also one of BANKS, WADE, and the other aspirants. GREELEY, who has proved himself the swordfish of the Black Republican whale, ought to have a prominent place in the picture gallery. Nor would the interest of the collection be complete without WEED, the right-hand man of SEWARD, who is so cunning that he is supposed to have been suckled by a fox, and whose countenance just at this time must look a combination of the Wandering Jew and the impenitent thief.
