Prince Albert makes a brief visit to Richmond, Virginia

-
After spending three days in Washington as the guest of President Buchanan at the White House, the Prince of Wales left for a short visit to the South.  He went by steamer down the Potomac to Aquia Creek and then by train to Richmond, Virginia.  He arrived at around 7 p.m. and was installed at the Exchange Hotel.  He attended church the next day, visited Governor Letcher, and left for Baltimore and Philadelphia the following morning.  (By John Osborne)
