At Portland, Maine, the Prince of Wales departs North America at the end of his tour

After their last visit to a major U.S. city, the Prince of Wales and his party left Boston by train for Portland, Maine where vessels of the Royal Navy were waiting to transport him home.  He reached the city around on o'clock and was met with massive crowds of both Americans and Canadians who had come to see him off as he went in procession to the Victoria Pier.  His flotilla sailed at around four and his lengthy, full, and successful visit to North America ended.    (By John Osborne)

Prince Albert visits Boston and meets the last living survivor of the Battle of Bunker Hill

The Prince of Wales and his party arrived from Albany, New York in the afternoon and lodged at the Revere House.  The next day was declared a holiday in Boston. The Prince met 100 year-old Ralph Farnham, the last living survivor of the Battle of Bunker Hill in the morning, visited the State House surrounded by crowds in the afternoon, and in the evening attended his last ball of many in North America.  The next day he visited Cambridge and Harvard and left the following day for Portland, Maine and his last stop before departing the continent.  (By John Osborne)

The Prince of Wales visits Albany, New York

After touring the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the Prince of Wales and his party continued up the Hudson River to visit Albany, New York at the invitation of Governor Edwin D. Morgan.  He was enthusiastically received at the dock, attended an official dinner at the Governor's Mansion, and spent the night at the Congress Hall Hotel.  The party left for Boston, Massachusetts by train the next morning.   (By John Osborne)

Prince Albert pays a visit to the United States Military Academy

After a three-day visit to New York City, the royal party traveled up the Hudson to visit the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.  The Prince paid his respects to the Commandant of Cadets Richard Delafield and reviewed the cadet corps.  The visitors spent the night and left for Albany, New York the next morning.  (By John Osborne)
